【概要】テクスチャー表面を薄膜が浸透している状態での薄膜の界面不安定性を論じた。単純な状況でのスケーリング法則を理論的に予言するとともに、スピンコーティング時の不安定化についても論じ、スピンコーティング時の不安定化は抑制されることを理論的に予測した。また、薄膜の厚みがテクスチャーを構成する柱の高さと同じとみなせる条件を物理的理由とともに明らかにした。

【概要】それぞれ単一緩和過程を有するネットワークを形成するひも状ミセル(Wormlike Micelle; WM)とテレケリックコポリマーとを複合させることで、隣接するWM間がテレケリックコポリマーによりtransientに架橋されたdouble transient networkをデザインした。実験よりそのダイナミクスはWM自身の絡み合いの緩和とWM上をcross-linkingの場としたテレケリックコポリマーの緩和とがハイブリッドしたMaxwell溶液として記述できることが明らかとなった。（今井正幸：研究推進）

【概要】多くの物質ではガラス状態は結晶化に対し安定であるが、いくつかの物質群ではガラス転移温度以下で、結晶成長が増大することが報告されている。我々は、結晶化における密度変化がこの現象に関わっていると考え、密度変化の大きいsalol などを用いて研究を行った。密度変化を伴う結晶化が起こると周囲に空隙ができるが、ガラス転移温度以下ではその空間を埋めることができず、分子は動きやすくなり結晶成長速度が増大する。

【概要】物質を結晶化が起きないように冷却するとガラス状態になるが、その起源については分っていない点も多い。我々はガラス転移と結晶化は密接な関係にあると考えに立ち、多分散コロイド系を用いてガラス転移現象の数値シミュレーションを行った。過冷却液体の中に中距離的な結晶秩序が存在し、その領域内では粒子の運動が遅くなることが分った。これは、ガラス転移における動的不均一性の起源であると考えられる。

【概要】高分子溶液などの動的に非対称な混合系では粘弾性相分離が起こることがある。本研究において我々は、この粘弾性相分離が相分離初期における過渡的ゲル状態の形成に大きく関わっていることを見出した。また、高分子溶液の相図において粘弾性相分離が起こる領域、過渡的ゲルが形成する領域などを分類したところ、分子量に依存する量でスケールすることにより、この相図は普遍的な振舞いを示すことが分った。

【概要】せん断流動下における石鹸二分子膜系のラメラ―スポンジ転移を調べた。せん断速度が小さい場合には、スポンジ相から核生成するラメラ相はオニオン構造を取る。また、高せん断速度では筒状のラメラ相が生成することが分かった。この生成核の構造の違いは、系の劇的なレオロジー変化を引き起こす。この違いはほんの僅かなせん断速度の違いによって起こされ、その臨界せん断速度は石鹸二分子膜系の濃度に依存することが分った。

【概要】コロイド分散系に高分子を添加すると枯渇効果により粒子間に引力相互作用が生じ、系は臨界現象、相分離現象を引き起こす。構成する粒子が大きいためレーザ走査型共焦点顕微鏡を用いて粒子の座標を三次元で抽出することができる。我々は、相分離の臨界現象における協同的なマクロな振舞いと粒子レベルのミクロな振舞いを同時に観測し、その挙動を連続的に記述することに成功した。また、相分離界面における層状化構造を発見した。

【概要】空間拘束条件下における分子性液体の液体・液体転移現象を調べた。バルク中の液体・液体転移は低温域ではスピノーダル分解的、高温域では核生成成長的に進行するが、この境の温度が空間拘束の度合によって変化することを発見した。その温度付近では、液体・液体転移に伴う揺らぎの特徴的な長さが増大するが空間拘束によりその増大は抑制される。そのため、スピノーダル分解が観察される領域がより低温にシフトすることが分った。

【概要】我々はこれまで分子性液体の液体・液体転移を実験的に調べてきた。本研究では、その挙動の理解を深めるために二秩序変数モデルに基づく数値シミュレーションを行った。二秩序変数モデルは、密度と転移を誘起する局所安定構造の数密度を独立な秩序変数としている。局所安定構造の安定性を変えることにより、実験で観測された高温域での核生成・成長の様子と低温域におけるスピノーダル分解的な転移の様子を再現することに成功した。

【概要】石鹸二分子膜系におけるスポンジ相からラメラ相の核生成の様子を実時間・実空間で観察した。ラメラ相における平均膜間距離はスポンジ相におけるものよりも短いため、相転移初期において、ラメラ相はエピタキシャル成長する。ここでは、ラメラ相は弾性的であるため平行に重なった膜から形成する。ラメラ核が大きくなると、界面エネルギーが変形に伴う弾性エネルギーに勝り、オニオン構造へと自発的に構造変化することを発見した。

【概要】分子性液体Triphenyl phosphiteを冷却すると液体・液体転移が観測される。これまで顕微鏡観察、熱量測定などマクロな手法を用いてこの現象を調べてきたが、その起源については明らかになっていない点も多い。本研究ではX線散乱法を用いて分子レベルから液体・液体転移現象に対するアプローチを行った。その結果、散乱スペクトルのあるピークの挙動が熱量測定の時間発展などと密接な関係にあることを見出した。
